Have you considered insuring the contents of your storage unit?

When planning your storage solutions with us at Storage King, please be aware that your belongings are not automatically insured when placed in our storage units. We highly recommend that all our customers obtain suitable insurance coverage to protect their items whilst in storage.

Including insurance cover is quick and easy and gives you peace of mind that your goods are protected whilst in a locked storage unit for loss or damage to your eligible items caused by an insured peril.

Examples of insured perils are provided in the table below

  • Inventory Shortage or disappearance.
  • Damage Caused by Improper Packing, stacking & storage.

Customers cannot obtain financial protection for loss or damage to the following items held in a storage facility:

Examples of types of items that cannot be insured:

  • Hazardous goods in the storage facility, such as fireworks, explosives, flammable or chemical goods
  • Currency, deeds, securities, money, notes, jewellery, watches, precious stones, gold, precious metals, furs or garments trimmed with fur#
  • Motor vehicles, heavy machinery*, caravans* and motorcycles
  • Boats or watercraft or aircraft
  • Any flammable liquid, gas or oil such as petrol, kerosene, LPG, aerosols, diesel fuel or engine oil, any corrosive chemicals or nitrates such as chlorine, sulphuric acid or fertiliser;
  • Tobacco, cigarettes, e-cigarettes or e-cigarette accessories#
  • Paint
  • Tyres in bulk
  • Alcohol, wine or beer unless it is stored in a temperature, humidity and light-controlled environment#.
  • Paintings, antiques, curios and works of art above $1,000 per item and above $5,000 in total
  • Electronic data or computer systems records
  • Bloodstock, exotic birds and stud or prize animals, livestock, animals, bird and fish*



*Only if insured under the GSA Storage Contents Protection Insurance Benefits PDS. Note that under the GSA policy there are limits of $1,000 per item and $5,000 in total for Jewellery, Watches, Precious Stones, Stamps, Furs or garments trimmed with fur, Fine Arts, Mobile Phones, Perfumery, Tobacco, Cigars, Cigarettes, Beers, Wines, Spirits.
